Zombieland Blu Ray Review
February 1, 2010

Zombieland does a very good job of imitating the 2004 horror/comedy classic Shaun of the Dead. This is not a knock down Zombieland. Before Shaun of the Dead, there have not been very many horror comedy films. In fact, Shaun of the Dead spawned many clones that tried to copy the success of the cult classic. None has succeeded until now. Zombieland is without a doubt a very funny movie worthy of being compared to Shaun of the Dead. Like Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland packs in incredibly funny moments in a very classic horror setting.
The story is not atypical in horror films. The world is turning into a wasteland thanks to a virus that turns people into zombies. We’ve seen this scenario in countless other horror movies. Two main characters, Tallahassee and Columbus form an unusual bond. Tallahassee is the gun toting mad man to Columbus’ geeky underdog character. They both set out to survive in the wasteland and reach a place where it is safe from the flesh eating zombies. Along the way, they meet Wichita and Little Rock and head toward west.
What sets Zombieland apart from the other horror films is the comedy. Sometimes you forget you are watching a zombieland. Instead, movie delivers funny scenes throughout the movie. From opening scene to the final scene, Zombieland consistently delivers laugh out loud moments like running into Bill Murray or the funny rules about surviving in the new zombie infested country. Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson are perfect as two unlikely buddies slaying zombies left and right. This is without a doubt one of the funniest movies to come out last year. Everyone who enjoyed Shaun of the Dead should not miss this movie.

re: Review of the movie “Zombieland”, one more thing. Did Hannah Montanna/Miley Cyrus survive the “plague”? “Little Rock” made that “wig” reference. Maybe they can meet up with her later.

re: Reviews of Zombieland on Blu-ray. This is a good four star(****), movie, as far as zombie movies go its more like a five. Nice to see actors like Abigail Breslin doing off-beat roles, that one scene of her running in slo-mo wearing feathers on her head is cool. Emma Stone plays the part of a crafty scammer turned good well. I look forward to part II of this movie, hopefully she(as well as the rest of the cast), will be in it. The special features of this movie are interesting, seams like Emma really doesn’t like “zombies”, real or otherwise. Maybe Ms. Breslin can get “made-up” to look like one later. Woody Harrelson “you got a purdy mouth”, is great as the man in search of a Twinkie. Using a .44 cal.(?),”maresleg” to dispatch zombies, don’t see that to often in movies. It’s one of the few movies allowing younger adults(A. Breslin),to handle/load/fire firearms, she even scored a kill on a zombie, not bad for a twelve year old. Jesse Eisenberg is sort of this intentional underacheiver(?),actor. He plays the part with exceptional and subtle believability, I think he was in “Juno”. Great cast, great movie, definetly worth owning and watching over. A good scarey movie, a great comedy and a solid human condition movie. Special effects were flawless, the blood trails/drag marks added to the realism. The lady flying through the winshield of her van demonstrates why we wear seat belts. A good “color check” of your HD TV(display), comes when the four actors enter a souvinier shop and during their stay there a shot of a large bead-filled table is tipped over. Pause that frame and take a good look at the thousands of multi-colored beads.
