Blue Streak blu-ray disc movie review
November 29, 2008
If you like Martin Lawrence, you'll likely love this movie. Martin Lawrence has perfected the comedies with ridiculous situations. Big Momma's House 1 and 2, National Security, Black Knight, and Nothing to Lose are all similar to this movie. If you liked any of these movies, you will enjoy this film as well. These movies are all ridiculous. Yet, Martin Lawrence makes them entertaining enough to watch another iteration.
The film begins with four thieves pulling of a jewel heist at a construction location. While Miles and Eddie work inside the building, Deacon stays above to watch for any trouble. Tulley waits in the car for the signal to drive them out. Miles succeeds stealing the diamond. Upon reaching the roof, Deacon promptly demands that he turn over the diamond. During the fracas, Eddie is killed off. Miles gets away and hides the diamond in the ventilation system of the building. At this moment, cops arrive and arrest Miles while Deacon gets away. Miles servers out his sentence and return to claim his diamond. Only, the finished building is now the headquarter of the police department. So, Miles transforms himself into a cop with forged credentials. This is where the fun begins.
Martin Lawrence does what he does in this movie. That is to say he is funny. And, Luke Wilson does an excellent job of portraying naive side kick to Lawrence's street smart "cop". Dave Chappelle as Tulley is fairly amusing as well. This is before the Chappelle show fame. I really liked Peter Greene's performance as the bad guy Deacon. There was no hint of comedic performance from him.
While the ending is really predictable, the ride to get there is pretty fun one. Ultimately, it is a silly movie with ridiculous premise. But, if you are fan of Martin Lawrence, you will most likely enjoy this comedy.
